Sony Josaphat, 46, Charged With Two Counts Of 1st Degree Murder

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A 46-year-old Police Academy Cadet jailed after the shooting death of his ex and her new husband.

Deputies responded to a shooting at a home on the 1200 block of Summit run Circle just after 8:30 AM on Saturday, December 9th, 2023.

First responders found a man and a woman who they then declared deceased, clearing the home.

Investigators quickly learned about a suspect. The suspect was identified as 46-year-old Sony Josaphat, who, according to witnesses, is the “controlling” ex-husband of the female victim.  According to a report from PBSO investigators, Josaphat’s daughter witnessed the shooting.

Deputies say that Josaphat showed up at the home and greeted the victims. Just after the victims said “good morning”, Josaphat pulled out his pistol, and shot both of them.

Josaphat then drove to the PBSO headquarters and turned himself in, telling deputies he had just killed his ex and her new husband.

Josaphat later admitted to the murders and acknowledged that his daughter witnessed the entire thing. Josaphat said he purchased his firearm because he is currently a receiving law enforcement training as a cadet in Class 221 at Palm Beach State College.
