WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Port Saint Lucie man has filed a negligence lawsuit against the Palm Beach County School Board, alleging one of its bus drivers crashed into his vehicle earlier this year and left him with ongoing injuries. The case, filed in the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, is captioned Stevee Darius v. Palm Beach County School Board, Florida, Case No. 502025CA012531XXXXMB and was submitted on December 3, 2025.

According to the complaint, plaintiff Stevee Darius seeks damages exceeding $50,000 and demands a jury trial. He is represented by Robes Law Group, PLLC of Delray Beach.

The lawsuit alleges that on or about January 24, 2025, a School Board employee, identified as Tina M. Edwards, was operating a 2016 Thomas school bus near the parking lot of 4275 45th Street, West Palm Beach. The filing states the School Board owned, operated, and controlled the bus and that Edwards was acting within the scope of her employment.

Darius alleges that Edwards “carelessly and negligently” drove the bus into his motor vehicle while he was in or near the same parking lot. The complaint says the impact caused a “significant collision,” resulting in injuries to Darius’s neck, back, knees, and chest. These claims are allegations only, not findings by any court.

He further claims he has suffered “bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life,” along with medical expenses and lost wages. The filing states that such losses are ongoing and may continue into the future.

The lawsuit asserts that the School Board is vicariously liable for Edwards’ alleged negligence because she was operating the bus as part of her job duties at the time. It also states that Darius performed all legally required pre-suit steps for suing a government entity, including sending written notices of claim to the School Board and to the Florida Department of Financial Services. Those notices, attached as Exhibits A and B, describe the same incident and claim similar injuries.

In Exhibit A, a January 29, 2025 letter from Robes Law Group, the firm reports that the bus “suddenly and violently struck the rear” of Darius’s vehicle, allegedly with enough force to “shake” the car and damage its rear section. Exhibit B provides the same account to the state agency. Both notices state that medical and non-medical damages were still being determined at the time.

The School Board has not yet filed a response in the docket provided. Allegations contained in the complaint represent only the plaintiff’s version of events.
