UPDATE

The family has rescinded Marsy’s Law.  The victim has been identified as Brittany Carter, DOB: 11/20/1988.

Brittany Carter was murdered by 44-year-old Stephen Smith, her ex-fiance and the father of their young children, who then killed himself.

Family and friends have set up a memorial fund for the children at Wells Fargo under the name “Brittany Carter Memorial Fund”, donations will be accepted at any Wells Fargo branch or anyone can Zelle to email [email protected].

PBSO confirms this incident is a Murder / Suicide. The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Stephen Smith. The victim is not being identified as the family has invoked Marsy’s Law.

WELLINGTON, FL (Boca Post) — PBSO says that two people were found dead and that there is no threat to the public.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 5:00 pm, deputies responded to a double shooting/homicide in the 2100 block of Balsan Way, Wellington.  Upon arrival deputies located a female and male deceased from gunshot wound(s).

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division arrived on the scene to investigate further.  Detectives believe they have accounted for all parties involved in this double shooting/homicide and there is no threat to the public.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
