WELLINGTON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Delray Beach woman was killed early Friday after losing control of her vehicle on South State Road 7, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

Investigators say 91-year-old Ann Roy was driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350 north on South State Road 7 around 2:36 a.m. when her vehicle veered into the median just north of Lake Worth Road.

According to the crash report, Roy’s vehicle struck the center median, mounted the curb, and continued traveling north through the grassy divider. The front right of the Mercedes hit a tree, causing the vehicle to spin and come to a stop with its rear wheels in the inside southbound lane and the front wheels still in the median.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue pronounced Roy dead at the scene at approximately 2:45 a.m. Investigators said she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

No other vehicles were involved, and no signs of alcohol or drug use were reported, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The single-vehicle crash occurred in Sector 8-42, near the 4000 block of South State Road 7 — a stretch of road that connects suburban Lake Worth and Wellington. Deputies closed the northbound lanes for several hours as members of the PBSO Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit processed the scene.

PBSO Investigator R. Haber led the investigation, under case number 25-113915.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
