Don’t Wrap Gifts You Intent To Fly With. More Holiday Travel Do’s And Don’ts.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — The Transportation Security Administration says while they don’t want to unwrap your presents, they will if you travel with wrapped gifts. In a ‘Travel Tips’ page on the TSA website, in good holiday fun, they posted a series of holiday memes reminding travelers of the rules they will enforce during this holiday travel season.

No TSA agent wants to be accused of being a Grinch, so don’t travel with wrapped gifts. The TSA says “While wrapped presents aren’t prohibited, we highly encourage you to keep your presents unwrapped in case our TSA officers need to inspect them. Both our officers and the jolly folks waiting in line behind you will be as merry as Mrs. Claus if you leave the wrapping for later.”

Liquid Cheer

Traveling with alcoholic holiday beverages is perfectly OK as well; however, remember there are a few guidelines. Keep the unopened bottles in their original packaging and make sure to only travel with 5 liters or less.

Holiday plants

Traveling with a live poinsettias, holly, or laurel? OK, it better bit in the overhead compartment, or under you’re seat.

Hold on, fruitcake.

Holiday sweets such as fruitcake, plum cake, gingerbread cookies, and more are perfectly allowable as part of your carry-on. The TSA suggests that you remove the food and place in a separate bin to expedite screening.

Traveling Light

Traveling with your Christmas lights? You can pack these twinkly holiday lights in your carry-on or your checked baggage. The TSA recommends “you don’t tangled up in them on the way through the security checkpoint”.

Snow Globes

Snow globes are a pretty common holiday gift but we need tobe careful with this one. You may want to ship your snow globes instead. As part of the TSA’s liquid restrictions, Snow globes can only contain up to 3.4 ounces of liquid and need to fit in a quart-sized resealable plastic bag.

Clearly the TSA had a little fun spreading some holiday cheer with these helpful reminders; however, it really is good information. For those who are traveling in the coming days, be mindful of these rules. As always, a little preparation goes a long way, maybe all the way to the north pole.
