TAMARAC, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A man has died after being struck by a car in Tamarac.

A tragic incident occurred in Tamarac when a person, on foot was hit by a vehicle resulting in the loss of their life.

Around 10;45 a.m. On Monday, September 11th Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the 3300 block of West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac. Detectives from the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate that Luis Enrique Ramirez Ortega was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang convertible in the left through lane on West Commercial Boulevard. Simultaneously the pedestrian was crossing West Commercial Boulevard at or near the designated crosswalk of Northwest 33rd Avenue.

As per investigators reports the Ford collided with the pedestrian. Came to a controlled stop, in the designated left turn lanes for Northwest 31st Avenue. Tamarac Fire Rescue responded promptly. Unfortunately pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The driver remained present and fully cooperated with authorities during their investigation. Currently detectives have determined that impairment did not contribute to this crash.

BSO says that this investigation is still ongoing.
