BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Boca Raton man was arrested and jailed this week on a cyberstalking charge following what police describe as a series of threatening messages sent to his former girlfriend after a domestic disturbance earlier the same day.

According to booking and court records, Tyler Dean Woodward, 27, was arrested by the Lantana Police Department on the night of Feb. 2 and charged with cyberstalking under Florida Statute 784.048(2). The arrest stems from allegations that Woodward repeatedly contacted the victim through phone calls and messages that investigators say were threatening in nature.

Police documents state the alleged conduct occurred after an earlier domestic incident involving his ex-girlfriend. In a sworn probable cause affidavit, officers wrote that the ex-girlfriend reported receiving numerous messages and calls from Woodward over several hours, including statements she perceived as threats and messages demanding money. Investigators documented that the victim told police she feared for her safety.

The affidavit notes that officers reviewed screenshots of the messages, which were uploaded into evidence, and determined probable cause existed to make an arrest. In the probable cause affidavit, investigators documented several messages police say Woodward sent to the victim over the course of the evening. Among them was a message stating, “Gianna if you do not pay me my money for the destroyed shoes you need a cop with you 24/7,” followed by another reading, “You finally saw today money can’t protect you and is not always right. Thank god.” Police also cited a message that said, “It wasn’t me if your tires get slashed tonight.” According to the affidavit, Woodward later sent an Apple Cash request for $300 and followed up with a message warning, “You have till 9pm or you’re in trouble.”

Woodward later agreed to meet officers at the Lantana Police Department, where he was taken into custody, read his Miranda rights, and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.

During the arrest process, Woodward acknowledged sending messages related to a dispute over damaged shoes but denied that his communications were harassing, according to police. Woodward indicated that maybe the ex-girlfriend fabricated the messages with AI, somehow. He also told officers the two had been in an on-and-off relationship for several years. No weapons were reported in connection with the arrest.

Court records show Woodward made a first appearance on Feb. 3 in Palm Beach County Court, where a judge found probable cause for the charge. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim and was granted release on a $2,000 bond. Records also indicate Woodward was found indigent and appointed a public defender, with a standard public defender application fee assessed.

An arraignment has been scheduled for Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. in Palm Beach County Court. The case remains pending, and the charge is an allegation that has not been proven in court.

Cyberstalking cases in Florida can involve repeated electronic communications that cause substantial emotional distress or fear for personal safety. Court filings show the matter is being handled in the county’s domestic violence division due to the nature of the alleged relationship between the parties.

Woodward was released from custody on Feb. 3 after posting bond, according to jail records.
