Derrick Givings, 42, Passed Away

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) —  A 39 year old woman was arrested for first degree murder after fatally shooting her neighbor in Pompano Beach.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide unit is currently looking into the details of the tragic incident.

On Tuesday, February 13th, at around 12;48 p.m., BSO deputies responded to a ShotSpotter alert near Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Derrick Givings, the victim of the shooting, outside a residence at 2695 N.W. Seventh St. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue rushed Givings to Broward Health North. Deputies spoke with Patrice George, who lives at the same address.

Sadly, Givings succumbed to his injuries at the hospital shortly after. Investigators believe that George was responsible for shooting him.

BSO Crime Scene and Homicide detectives were called in to investigate further.

George was detained during the investigation on site and subsequently arrested after questioning by detectives. She has been charged with first degree murder using a firearm and has been taken into custody at BSO Main Jail.
