Original Story

A spokesperson for PBSO told Boca Post that the agency will be conducting a county wide Seat Belt & Child Safety Restraint Enforcement Saturday, February 5th, 2022 during the hours of 9am to 1pm.

According to PBSO, the locations of enforcement will be the entire unincorporated areas of Palm Beach County. This announcement comes only a week after 2 deadly crashes in western Delray Beach, including one accident that killed 6 people, where the most of the victims were not wearing seat belts.

Seat belts save lives. More than 75% of people who are ejected as the result of a motor vehicle accident do not survive. Your chances of surviving a major car accident increase by 50% when you wear a seatbelt. Seatbelts save an estimated 14,955 lives in 2019. Remember, air bags are designed to work with seat belts  not replace them.

Boca Post reminds our readers that it is always illegal to operate or ride in a vehicle without a seatbelt. There are also several laws against improper child safety restraints including not using a car seat for kids. We are merely sharing the notice provided by PBSO. Boca Post advises that you always wear your seat belt and sharing or not this notice in no way should affect your decision to do so.
