Masks No Longer Required In Palm Beach County Schools - Palm Beach County School District

 Palm Beach County School District

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — The Palm Beach County School District today in a letter announced that they can no longer force anyone to wear masks. The previous opt-out procedure is no longer a requirement for students not to wear masks. Due to legislation signed by Governor Ron DeSantis the school district can no longer force anyone to wear facial coverings.

A letter from the Palm Beach County School District reads:

“Effective immediately, facial coverings are no longer mandatory for students on School District property. The District has transitioned from an opt-out to an optional status as the result of legislation signed today by Governor Ron DeSantis. Opt-out forms are no longer required for students whose parents or guardians would prefer that they do not wear a facial covering. While facial coverings are now optional, the District strongly encourages that they are worn, particularly in situations in which social distancing is not possible.

Facial coverings are also optional, but strongly encouraged, for District employees and visitors.
Superintendent Mike Burke, and School Board members, extend their gratitude to our students, staff, and visitors for cooperating in all of the protective measures put in place to mitigate the transmission of the virus and help Palm Beach County get to this point of recovery.”
