Michael Joseph McKenna Arrested For DUI Manslaughter After Oakland Park Crash Kills Girl In April

OAKLAND PARK, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — 44-year-old Michael Joseph McKenna was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter following the April DUI crash that killed a 6-year-old girl in Oakland Park.

Shortly after 7:30 PM, On April 2nd, 2023, BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to a crash near NW 35th Street and NW 31st Ave in Oakland Park.

Deputies say McKenna turned a Nissan Sentra left into the path of a Ford F-150, occupied by an adult male, and by the 6-year-old girl, causing the crash. After the crash, the truck continued NE where it struck a traffic signal pole.

Deputies and first responders found the 3 injured, including a 6-year-old girl, and transported them all to local hospitals. The 6-year-old girl passed away two days later on April 4th, 2023.

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office have since investigated the crash and filed charges against McKenna. McKenna has been charged with DUI manslaughter, DUI property damage, and DUI personal injury. McKenna was arrested on July 12th, 2023. McKenna has since bonded out of jail.
