OAKLAND PARK, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash in Oakland Park and are looking for the driver.
The collision happened at about 12:19 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, near the 4400 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue, according to BSO.
Investigators said the driver of a 2016 to 2018 Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound on Northwest Ninth Avenue when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. Detectives said the pedestrian was not in a designated crosswalk area when the crash occurred.
BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded. The pedestrian, identified by investigators as an adult female, was pronounced dead at the scene.
BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is handling the investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle to contact BSO Traffic Homicide Detective Shelby Campbell at 954-321-4840 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.
