LAKE WORTH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A bicyclist was killed Monday night after a tractor-trailer turned into a plaza off 10th Avenue North and struck him, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The crash happened around 7:59 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the 2400 block of 10th Avenue North, just west of Lake Worth’s core. PBSO notes a fatality was recorded at 8:04 p.m. at the scene.

Investigators say the bicyclist, identified as 47-year-old Carlos Vivar of Palm Springs, was riding eastbound on the north side of 10th Avenue North approaching a plaza entrance. The bicycle he was riding did not have a working front lamp, according to the report.

At the same time, a 2016 Kenworth tractor traveling westbound began a northbound turn into the plaza. Deputies wrote that the driver, 39-year-old Yunior Bermudez Cantillo of Port St. Lucie, “failed to observe” Vivar as he engaged the turn. The front of the tractor-trailer hit the right side of the bicycle. During the collision, Vivar was thrown onto the driveway and the truck drove over him, PBSO said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured.

Alcohol or drugs were not suspected for either party at the time of the report. No charges were listed as filed or pending in the initial log entry. The case is being handled by PBSO traffic investigators; the listed investigator is Schneider (ID 8501).

Records list the truck’s Florida tag as DF88DQ and the bicycle as a Specialized with a Florida tag P2131K. The location is recorded as the 2400 block of 10th Avenue North, sector 1-31. Signal codes on the report include 4W and 5V.

This is a developing traffic homicide investigation. PBSO’s initial narrative is subject to update as the case progresses.
