LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A man hit by a car on North Dixie Highway last month has died from his injuries, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division. Investigators say the driver who struck him fled the scene but was later found nearby.

The crash happened around 9:08 a.m. on October 25 in the 200 block of North Dixie Highway, just north of Lake Avenue. Deputies said the victim, identified only as a male pedestrian protected under Marsy’s Law, was crossing mid-block when he was hit by a northbound Toyota Camry that did not have its headlights on.

The impact threw the man onto the windshield and over the car before he came to rest in the outside northbound lane. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and remained there for more than a week. The Sheriff’s Office said he died on November 3.

The driver of the Camry, described in the report as a Hispanic male, kept going after the crash. Deputies later located the vehicle in an alley north of 7th Street North, between North E Street and North F Street, in Lake Worth Beach.

Investigators have not released the driver’s name, and no charges have been filed at this time. The report lists the case as pending.

Detective Lynch from the PBSO Traffic Division is leading the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about the crash to contact Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 1-800-458-TIPS.
