BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — State inspection records show multiple emergency closures and a string of high-priority violations this week across Palm Beach and Broward, including several in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and Coral Springs.

The Division of Hotels and Restaurants logged just over 400 inspections in the two counties between November 17 and 23, and nearly 90 of those visits involved either three or more high-priority violations or “gross” conditions like pests, sewage problems or unsafe food temperatures.

All of the activity comes on top of a busy October enforcement calendar, where state regulators signed off on nearly 200 disciplinary orders involving Palm Beach and Broward restaurants.

Emergency Closures In Palm Beach & Broward

According to the Florida DBPR’s emergency closure log, three food service establishments in Palm Beach and Broward counties were ordered shut at least temporarily during the week.

An emergency closure is not a formal disciplinary case. It’s a step the state takes when inspectors say conditions inside a restaurant pose an elevated risk to the public or to employees — things like sewage backing up into food prep areas, live pests, lack of hot water or refrigeration. The doors stay locked until those problems are corrected and the state clears the business to reopen.

In Plantation, inspectors ordered La Belle Monique Restaurant And Bakery on State Road 7 closed on November 17 after documenting roach activity inside the restaurant, according to state inspection data. Records show the licensee was approved to reopen the next morning after a follow-up visit.

In Palm Springs, Los Dos Hermanos Salvadorian And Mexican Cuisine on South Congress Avenue was shut down the same day. State records list a sewage issue combined with rodent activity as the trigger for the emergency closure. The restaurant stayed closed until November 19, when follow-up inspection records show it was cleared to reopen.

The third emergency action hit Taqueria La Yaquesita on Wiles Road in Coral Springs on November 18, where inspectors reported a sewage backup affecting the operation. According to the closure log, the taqueria was allowed to reopen later that afternoon once the plumbing problems were addressed.

High-Priority Hits In Boca, Delray, Boynton And Coral Springs

Most restaurants never get to the point of a full shutdown, but they can still rack up serious red flags.

For the week ending November 23, inspection data for Palm Beach and Broward show 419 visits. Nearly 90 of those inspections involved three or more high-priority violations or issues like pests, unsafe hot or cold holding, sewage or serious handwashing problems, according to state records.

Several of those reports came from Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and Coral Springs:

In Boca Raton, inspectors cited Indian Harvest on November 20 with four high-priority violations, plus intermediate and basic issues. According to state inspection data, the visit documented food from unapproved or unsafe sources, time/temperature control foods held at unsafe hot or cold temperatures, worn or damaged food-contact surfaces, handwash sinks blocked or not properly stocked, and damaged floors or walls in food areas.

Also in Boca Raton, Rave Pizza & Sushi and Euro Delights Boca Raton each drew four high-priority violations on their midweek visits, records show. The reports reference combinations of unsafe food temperatures, questionable food sources, labeling and date-marking problems, and handwashing or sanitation issues that inspectors classified as high priority.

In Delray Beach, J&J Seafood Bar & Grill was cited on November 20 with six high-priority and four intermediate violations. The inspection notes food from unapproved or unsafe sources, missing or incorrect date-marking, time/temperature control foods held too warm or too cold, missing or inaccurate thermometers, cross-contamination risks between raw and ready-to-eat foods, food-contact surfaces not cleaned or sanitized between uses, blocked or poorly supplied handwash sinks, and chemicals stored too close to food and equipment, according to state records.

At the Seagate Hotel Coffee Shop in Delray Beach, a November 17 visit turned up six high-priority violations and two intermediate. Inspectors reported food from questionable sources, unsafe hot or cold holding temperatures, labeling and consumer advisory problems, and wiping cloths stored or used in ways that can contaminate surfaces.

In Boynton Beach, Star Mama LLC was cited on November 20 with six high-priority violations, four intermediate and eight basic. The inspection details a long list of issues: food from unapproved or unsafe sources, unsafe food temperatures, improper thawing, cross-contamination risks, improper utensil storage, dishwashing and sanitizer problems, dirty or improperly stored wiping cloths, grease and food debris on surfaces, blocked or poorly supplied handwash sinks, and chemicals kept too close to food, according to the state’s violation codes.

The same week, Cool Spot Ice Cream Rolls & Boba Teas and Charleys Cheesesteaks Wings in Boynton Beach also landed in the high-priority column, with four and three high-priority violations respectively, including temperature control, labeling and hygiene issues.

In Coral Springs, Julian Bagel Place on November 17 drew four high-priority violations and two basic. Inspectors documented food from unapproved or unsafe sources, date-marking and labeling problems, unsafe hot or cold holding for time/temperature control foods, and improper thawing of frozen foods, according to the inspection record. Another Coral Springs spot, China Spring, logged three high-priority violations and six basic on the same date.

Outside those core cities, other Palm Beach County kitchens also posted heavy stacks. In Greenacres, Chivio Liniero was cited on November 21 with 10 high-priority violations, four intermediate and three basic. Records cite unsafe food temperatures, unapproved food sources, cross-contamination risks, employee illness and hygiene problems, worn food-contact surfaces, sanitizing failures, plumbing issues, blocked handwash sinks, evidence of pests and chemicals too close to food.

On Singer Island, Sailfish Restaurant in Palm Beach Shores was written up on November 17 for nine high-priority violations, along with intermediate and basic issues. The report lists unapproved food sources, temperature abuse, cross-contamination risks, food-contact surfaces not sanitized, plumbing problems, handwash sinks lacking soap or towels and chemicals near food prep areas.

In West Palm Beach, a PDQ 1011 West Palm Beach inspection on November 18 recorded seven high-priority violations, plus intermediate and basic. Inspectors noted unapproved or unsafe food sources, unsafe hot and cold holding for time/temperature control foods, handwashing and hygiene violations, dirty or improperly stored wiping cloths, blocked handwash sinks, and signs of insect or pest activity, according to state records.

Fines Pile Up For Palm Beach & Broward Restaurants

Separate from weekly inspections and closures, the state’s Restaurant Disciplinary Activity Report shows how earlier cases are resolved.

For October 2025, the latest report lists just under 200 disciplinary orders tied to restaurants in Palm Beach and Broward counties, according to DBPR data. Many of the cases ended with four-figure fines.

In Boca Raton, Another Broken Egg Cafe appears in the October report with two violations on the underlying inspection and a $2,000 fine, with a Final Order signed October 14, 2025, state records show. La Luna Italian Bistro & Bar, Moe’s Southwest Grill #41 and Hong Kong Palace also show up under Boca Raton addresses with smaller fines and varying violation counts.

In Boynton Beach, a Bonefish Grill location is listed with one violation and a $2,000 fine finalized on October 14, 2025. Other Boynton Beach entries include Elle Caribbean Grill, Palm Diner, Park Avenue BBQ & Grille and a Wendy’s location, each with their own violation counts and fines ranging from a few hundred dollars to the low four figures.

In Delray Beach, disciplinary records for October include La Escaleta Italian Ristorante, Hyatt Place Delray Beach, Subway #61776 Delray Medical Center, Yakitori Sushi House and others, generally tied to one or two violations and fines in the $200–$450 range, according to the report.

In Coral Springs, Saikoi Sushi Lounge And Hibachi stands out with five violations on the original inspection and a $2,400 fine, finalized October 8, 2025, state records show. Other Coral Springs entries include Patron Azteca Mexican, Chao Cajun, Vito’s Pizza and Resort Restaurant, with fines from a couple hundred dollars up to $1,400.

West Palm Beach, Lake Worth, Fort Lauderdale and other Palm Beach and Broward cities account for the balance of District 2 cases, with a mix of hotels, chain restaurants and independent operators listed in the October disciplinary run.

State regulators note that disciplinary actions often lag the original inspections by weeks or months. The Final Orders show how earlier inspection findings are resolved — typically with fines, cost recovery and compliance requirements.

As always, inspection reports are a snapshot of conditions on the day of the visit. Restaurants can correct violations, request follow-up inspections and, in the case of emergency closures, reopen once the state verifies that the problems have been fixed.
