FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) —FDLE is looking into an incident involving a deputy shooting that took place in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday afternoon.

The situation kicked off at 1;49 in the afternoon on Saturday; December 14th when Broward County Regional Communications got a call about a domestic aggravated assault near the 7600 block of Granville Drive in Tamarac. The report mentioned that Robert Drangel—an armed adult male—showed up at a house and aimed a firearm at his estranged wife and another woman before fleeing in a vehicle owned by one of them.

Detectives stated that Drangel had to wear an ankle monitor as a result of his arrest in September for aggravated stalking following a restraining order related to violence issues. Deputies then put out an alert, for Drangel and his vehicle.

Around 2:15 p.m. they found Drangels vehicle near Hollywood Boulevard and I‐95. Initiated a chase involving multiple law enforcement agencies heading northbound. During this pursuit in Fort Lauderdale at 200 Southwest 21st Avenue area a BSO deputy utilized a maneuver to stop Drangels vehicle called PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique). Emergency responders from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived on scene. Drangel was pronounced deceased thereafter.
