FLORIDA (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Florida Silver Alert has been issued for an 87-year-old man reported missing from Moore Haven in Glades County, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

FDLE identified the missing person as Robert Hillis. He is described as a white male, 87 years old, with white hair and blue eyes. He is listed at 5 feet 10 inches tall and 260 pounds.

FDLE said Hillis was last known to be in the Moore Haven area. Moore Haven is in Glades County, on the western edge of Lake Okeechobee, and the alert puts local law enforcement in charge of the response while asking the public to help with information.

The agency handling tips is the Glades County Sheriff's Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Glades County Sheriff's Office at 863-946-1600 or call 911.

For residents across South Florida, including those who travel through the Lake Okeechobee region, the practical takeaway is simple: know the description, keep an eye out, and report information directly to law enforcement. Silver Alerts are meant to move information fast and widen the search beyond a single neighborhood, especially when a missing older adult may be at risk.

What happens next is driven by the investigation and any incoming tips. FDLE’s flyer directs the public to call the sheriff’s office or 911 with information tied to the missing person and the last known area in Moore Haven.

The official FDLE flyer remains available through the state’s Missing and Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse.
