DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred late Saturday night in Deerfield Beach.

The crash happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of North Federal Highway. Investigators say a 2024 Audi Q7 was traveling southbound in the left thru lane when it merged into the middle thru lane. At the same time, an adult female pedestrian was crossing North Federal Highway from east to west.

Detectives say the pedestrian was struck by the Audi. The preliminary investigation determined the woman was not crossing in a designated pedestrian crossing area at the time of the collision.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Paramedics transported the pedestrian to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver was identified as Michael Joseph Fazio, 57, of Boca Raton. Investigators said neither speed nor driver impairment is considered a contributing factor in the crash at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
