BSO SWAT Arrest Man After Standoff At A Dania Beach Hotel

UPDATE

BSO has identified the suspect as 34-year-old Jean Requena. Requena was arrested and charged with 2 counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, injuring a police dog, trespassing after warning, and resisting with violence.

BSO confirms that the deputy who shot at Requena did not hit him with the gunfire. Requena was hospitalized due to injuries received from the K-9.

The injured deputy was also treated and released from a local hospital.

DANIA BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — BSO SWAT responded to a Dania Beach hotel and arrested a man after a standoff with deputies.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that they were notified of a disturbance at Rodeway Inn And Suites in Dania Beach just before 6 AM on Wednesday. BSO deputies assigned to Dania Beach responded and a deputy was attacked by a man. The deputy fired his weapon and the male retreated into the room.

BSO’s SWAT team and a K-9 unit then responded to the hotel. SWAT and K-9 made entry into the room and were able to apprehend the suspect. BSO tells us that it appears that the suspect was not struck by the deputy’s gunfire.

The deputy who was originally attacked by the suspect was treated at a local hospital. BSO has referred this case to internal affairs who are now investigating the incident.
