CORAL SPRINGS, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — An early morning fire tore through an abandoned building in the Heron Bay area of Coral Springs, drawing firefighters to a scene that was still active hours later.

Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department crews responded to 11801 Heron Bay Blvd “early this morning” for a report of an abandoned building on fire, the department said.

When firefighters arrived, the building was already “fully involved,” according to the fire department — heavy fire throughout, not a small corner or a quick flare-up. The department said the fire has since been knocked down, but the scene remains active as crews continue work at the location.

There were no additional details released Saturday morning about injuries, evacuations, or what the abandoned building is typically used for. The department also did not say how long crews were expected to remain on scene.

Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

For now, investigators will be tasked with sorting out how it started and whether there were any contributing factors — something that can take time when a structure is heavily damaged. Fire investigators typically look at burn patterns, possible entry points, and any signs that might explain how the fire began, but the department has not released findings or a timeline.

Residents in the area may notice continued fire department activity and equipment around Heron Bay Boulevard as the response winds down and investigators work the scene.

Updates are expected once officials share more information about what happened and what led up to the fire.
