GREENACRES, FL (Boca Post) — Deputies say a man was illegally crossing the street when he was struck and killed by a vehicle in Greenacres on Friday evening.

According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, a 45-year-old man was crossing 10th Ave in when he was struck and killed by a 28-year-old driver. Deputies say that the car was traveling westbound in the 5300 block of 10th Avenue North. Ricardo Louis was driving within the inner through lane.

It is unknown where the pedestrian was prior to the collision, however, he was outside of a crosswalk, and not near an intersection.

As Louis changed lanes to pass traffic into the outer through lane, the pedestrian was improperly crossing the roadway, violating Louis’ right of way.

Louis was unable to react prior to striking the pedestrian. Louis’ driver front bumper, driver quarter panel, driver mirror, and driver side impacted the pedestrian, causing him to incur fatal injuries on the scene.

Louis drove his car into the parking lot of 5371 10th Avenue North, and awaited Law Enforcement.
