Deputy Injured After Two Sheriff's Prisoner Transport Vehicles Crash

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — Two BSO prisoner transport vehicles, carrying a total of 52 inmates, crashed in Pompano Beach.

Around 5:31 in the morning, Broward County Regional Communications received a notification regarding a crash with injuries near the intersection of West Atlantic Boulevard and North Andrews Avenue in Pompano Beach.

According to investigators, the collision involved two Broward Sheriff’s Office Prisoner Transport vehicles and a civilian car. Deputies from BSO and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue promptly responded to the scene and made contact with those involved in the accident. One of the BSO deputies was transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics for treatment of non life threatening injuries. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, but as a precautionary measure, seven prisoners were also taken to a nearby hospital for medical clearance.

Detectives from BSO Pompano Beach District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this ongoing incident.
