Claudette Mauge Passes Away After Deadly Pompano Beach Crash

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that they are investigating an accident involving a fatality after 57-year-old Claudette Mauge was hit and killed by a vehicle in Pompano Beach.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a vehicle versus fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Sept. 28 in Pompano Beach.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. that day, Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near North Dixie Highway and West Sample Road in Pompano Beach. BSO district deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene and located an adult female on the ground unresponsive. The driver remained on the scene. Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased on scene. BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives were notified and responded to the scene to investigate.

The preliminary on-scene investigation revealed Alexis Lesme was driving a 2018 Honda Accord traveling eastbound on West Sample Road approaching the intersection of North Dixie Highway. As the Honda Accord was approaching North Dixie Highway, Claudette Mauge began crossing West Sample Road south to north through traffic. Mauge was not crossing in a designated crosswalk. Mauge stepped into the path of the Honda Accord and was struck by the front passenger side of the vehicle.

According to investigators, neither excessive speed nor impairment by the driver are considered contributing factors to the cause of the crash.

BSO considers the investigation ongoing.
