BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Palm Beach County resident has claimed a $1 million Scratch-Off prize after buying a holiday-themed Florida Lottery ticket at a Boynton Beach Publix, state lottery officials announced.

The Florida Lottery said Yvonne Hill-Mckinnie, 59, of Boynton Beach, claimed a “top prize” from the $1,000,000 HOLIDAY CA$H Scratch-Off game. The claim was processed at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee on Dec. 22, according to the lottery’s announcement.

Hill-Mckinnie chose a one-time lump-sum option instead of annual payments, the Florida Lottery said. Her payout totaled $606,700.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Publix located at 6627 Boynton Beach Boulevard, according to the Florida Lottery.

The $1,000,000 HOLIDAY CA$H Scratch-Off is a $20 game with a top prize of $1 million. The Florida Lottery said the game offers “chances to win up to 21 times per ticket,” with more than 3 million winning tickets and more than $125 million in total cash prizes. The overall odds of winning are 1-in-2.68, the agency said.

Scratch-Off games are a major driver of Lottery sales in Florida. The Florida Lottery said Scratch-Offs accounted for about 74% of ticket sales in fiscal year 2024–2025.

The agency also highlighted the long-run totals tied to Scratch-Off games, saying they have awarded more than $66.9 billion in prizes since inception, created 2,350 millionaires, and generated more than $20.09 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

In Florida, Lottery revenue is routed through a defined process that starts with ticket sales and ends with prize payouts, retailer commissions, and transfers to education. The Florida Lottery said it reinvests 99% of its revenue into Florida’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,550 Lottery retailers, and transfers to education.

The Florida Lottery describes its core role as generating money to enhance education statewide. The agency said it has generated more than $49 billion for education and helped send more than one million students to Florida colleges, universities, and technical schools through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Since 1988, the Lottery said its games have paid more than $103.2 billion in prizes and created more than 4,430 millionaires.

For Palm Beach County residents, the announcement is a reminder that high-dollar Scratch-Off claims routinely flow through Tallahassee, even when tickets are purchased locally. Claims, prize options, and official verification are handled through the Florida Lottery’s established process, with public announcements typically listing the winner’s city, the game, the claim date, payout option, and the retailer location where the ticket was purchased.

Residents who play Scratch-Off games should know that prize claims and payout structures vary by prize level, and larger prizes often require in-person processing through Lottery channels. The Lottery’s announcement did not include details about the specific ticket number, the date of purchase, or how long after the win the claim was filed, only the claim date and retailer location.
