The Traffic Homicide Unit detectives from the Broward Sheriffs Office are searching for leads in a hit and run accident that tragically took the life of Brudienell Kelly in Lauderdale Lakes year. Broward Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of, up to $10 000 for any details that could help apprehend the driver.
Investigators stated that on Saturday afternoon of August 5th in 2023 around 12;07 p.m. a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu driver was heading west on West Oakland Park Boulevard in the right lane near Northwest 43rd Avenue as Kelly was crossing from south to north close to or, within the crosswalk.
The initial inquiry found that the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu hit Kelly with the right side of the car causing Kelly to be thrown in a northwestern direction as a pedestrian was injured in the incident. Afterwards the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu left the scene without stopping or offering any help leaving vehicle debris behind at the scene. Kelly was taken to a hospital, by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, where he was later pronounced dead.
Detectives used their skills to find the white Chevrolet Malibu in a parking lot with signs of damage suggesting it had hit a pedestrian.
