A scooter rider was killed in a vehicle crash in Pompano Beach and now detectives from the Broward Sheriffs Office are trying to figure out what happened. It all went down on Friday, August 1 before 1;34 p.m. Jeffrey Ferrer, the guy on the scooter. A 2023 Italica RX 150. Was heading south on South Powerline Road. He was in the lane approaching the intersection with Palm Aire Drive. As it turns out another car, an one was coming from the other direction eastbound, on Palm Aire Drive. It got to the intersection. Stopped. But here’s the thing the driver of that car is still a mystery.Something went horribly wrong at an intersection when a scooter rider lost control. The guy on the scooter had been heading straight. Then he veered into the center and left lanes. It looks like he just couldn’t keep his balance and the scooter hit the median. The impact was so strong that it threw the rider off. He ended up in the lane where cars turn left. The fire rescue team, from Pompano Beach rushed to the scene. Took the scooter rider to Broward Health North Medical Center. Sadly he didn’t make it. They pronounced him dead at the hospital.Far it looks like speed and driver impairment aren’t to blame for the crash. Investigators are still digging into what happened. They’re not done yet.
