Fdle Investigates Fatal Deputy-Involved Shooting In Deerfield Beach

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is currently looking into an incident involving a deputy shooting that took place on Wednesday night in Deerfield Beach area. 9;23 Pm last night on Wednesday evening in Deerfield Beach area at 2060 N.E Second Street location a call was made to Broward County Regional Communications mentioning an armed lady causing trouble by pointing a gun at someone. Authorities from Broward Sheriff’s Office hurried to the scene. Encountered Santrina Lester who was situated inside a vehicle. Despite being advised by deputies not to do verbally; unfortunately Lester went on to produce a firearm as, per reports received from officials at that time. During the incident that took place both inside and outside the vehicle involved in the incident involving BSO deputies firing their weapons at Lester who sustained injuries necessitating life saving measures and CPR by deputies on site until Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived to transport her to Broward Health North where she was later pronounced deceased The incident also resulted in an injury to a BSO deputy who is expected to recover A firearm was found at the scene near Lester while the details of the shooting are still being investigated with FDLE leading the investigation, into the incident. According to the BSO policy guidelines in place, at this time the deputies involved in the shooting incident have been assigned to duties while awaiting further investigation.
