Domestic Incident Leads To Cooper City Deputy-Involved Shooting

A man is dead after a deputy involved shooting in Cooper City on Saturday, August 16. It started around noon when Broward Sheriffs Office deputies got a call about a person who was talking about killing himself and had already shot himself. This was near the 10200 block of Griffin Road. When help arrived they found Boston Cassano badly hurt. Deputies, from the area and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue were the ones who responded to the scene. Now the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is looking into what happened.It turns out Cassano got into a fight, with his mom before things took a turn. He ended up shooting himself. When a deputy tried to approach him Cassano got aggressive and attacked. The deputy had no choice but to fire his gun. After paramedics jumped in to try and save Cassanos life but unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene. Luckily his mom and the deputy weren’t shot. They were still taken to the hospital as a precaution. It looks like they’re going to be okay. Both have already been sent home.Detectives from the Crime Scene, Homicide and Internal Affairs units at BSO are looking into what happened. They’re also getting some help from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement who are focusing on the part of the case where a deputy fired their gun. As usual the deputy involved has been assigned to desk work for now until everything gets sorted out. The investigation is still ongoing.
