Detectives from Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are looking into an incident involving a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian that took place in West Park last weekend. As per reports from investigators findings indicate that around 9;40 p.m.on Saturday night of June 21st BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue were called to respond to an accident where an individual was struck by a car close to Southwest 19th Street, in the 5600 block. The initial inquiry indicated that the individual was heading east on Southwest 19th Street when he inexplicably decided to lie down in the driveway of a residence nearby. It was mentioned by investigators that the individual stayed in that position for an amount of time before being hit by the passenger side undercarriage of a 2025 Honda CR V. The person driving the Honda had maneuvered into the driveway with the intention to park when the accident occurred. After the impact happened,the driver promptly. Contacted emergency services. The victim was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. Was declared dead there as the investigation is ongoing.
