WESTON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office has launched ongoing traffic enforcement in Weston after receiving repeated complaints about illegal street racing and motorcycle stunt riding along the U.S. Highway 27 corridor near Griffin Road.

The enforcement effort is being carried out by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Weston District in coordination with the agency’s Regional Traffic Unit. According to BSO, the initiative began Feb. 15 and will continue on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Deputies are responding to what the agency described as numerous complaints over several weekends involving reckless driving activity in the area. Residents and motorists reported street racing and dangerous motorcycle stunt riding, prompting the increased presence.

The operation is focused on education and enforcement. Deputies will target red light violations, equipment safety violations, failure to yield the right-of-way, impeding the normal flow of traffic, aggressive driving, and speeding. BSO stated that addressing those violations is intended to reduce traffic crashes and improve overall roadway safety.

As part of the initiative, deputies will also conduct safety inspections for motorcycles and vehicles entering the parking lot of the Seminole Travel Center, located at 4690 U.S. 27 in Weston. Vehicles will be inspected for compliance with safety standards.

BSO confirmed that no travel lanes on U.S. Highway 27 will be closed during the enforcement operations. Traffic will remain open in all directions while deputies conduct inspections and issue citations as needed.

The goal of the operation is to provide safer roadway use for all motorists and protect vulnerable roadway users, including bicyclists and pedestrians. The enforcement initiative is designed to address ongoing concerns in the Weston area while maintaining traffic flow on one of the county’s major north-south corridors.

U.S. 27 serves as a key route connecting western Broward County communities with neighboring areas, and Griffin Road is a heavily traveled east-west roadway. BSO’s Weston District is responsible for law enforcement services within the city under contract with Broward County.

Drivers traveling through Weston on Sundays should expect an increased law enforcement presence along the U.S. 27 corridor and near the Seminole Travel Center. Deputies may stop vehicles for observed violations and conduct inspections in the designated parking lot area.

BSO is urging motorists across Broward County to obey traffic laws and operate vehicles safely at all times. The agency emphasized that compliance with traffic regulations is critical to reducing crashes and protecting both drivers and pedestrians.

The enforcement effort remains ongoing, with Sunday operations planned as part of the broader initiative.
