BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — Bernie Madoff’s sister, Sondra Wiener, is suspected of the shooting death of her husband prior to killing herself in their Valenica Lakes home in Boynton Beach, FL.

Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office has confirmed with Boca Post that when deputies responded to the house on the 11200 block of Barca Ave, they found an elderly male and female. Since the initial report, PBSO has said that Marsy’s law has been invoked for the male; however, they have identified the female as 87-year-old Sondra Wiener.

Since Marsy’s law was invoked to protect the husband’s name, it is assumed that Sondra is the shooter. Marsy’s law is commonly used to protect the identity of the victim of crimes in Florida. No such protection exists for the suspect.

Sondra Wiener is better known as Bernie Madoff’s sister. According to the public record, She and her husband, Marvin Wiener, owned and resided in the Valencia Lakes home located at 11259 Barca Blvd.

Marvin and Sondra Wiener have lived in the Valencia Lakes home since buying it in 2009 following being sued by the victims of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme.

The medical examiner is investigating the deaths but PBSO is calling it a murder-suicide.
