UPDATE — December 7, 2025, 9:45 a.m:

BocaNewsNow has since “updated” its story, replacing the original article with a new version stating the deputy was not shot but was involved in a shooting while off duty. The original version — which repeatedly claimed the deputy was “apparently shot multiple times” — is no longer available on their website. Boca Post archived the initial article before it was changed, and both versions are preserved here for comparison.

Boca Post will provide more details on what happened once information is officially released by PBSO or other investigative agencies.

Originally reported by Boca Post

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A story that raced around South Palm Beach County over the weekend claiming a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot multiple times now appears to be on shaky ground.

The claim started with a BocaNewsNow article posted late Saturday afternoon. In that piece, the outlet reported that a PBSO deputy was “apparently shot multiple times” around 5:10 p.m. in Boynton Beach and “found in his vehicle,” citing unnamed sources and stressing that details were unclear and subject to change. Boca Post also archived the original BocaNewsNow story and made a PDF copy available for download, preserving the article as it appeared at publication time.

The site placed the scene on Water Course Way, just east of Jog Road and south of Gateway Boulevard, describing it as near the home of a law enforcement officer and noting that a nearby address was listed confidential in public records. The article also said at least one person was pronounced dead at the scene but did not identify who that person was or confirm any connection to a deputy.

Later Saturday night, BocaNewsNow updated the story to say PBSO had confirmed a deceased male was found in a vehicle after an altercation, while adding that the agency was “not confirming at this point that a deputy was injured.” The outlet nonetheless told readers its unnamed sources still backed the original reporting. It's all very confusing.

As of Sunday, PBSO has not issued a public news release describing a deputy-involved shooting in that area. There has been no official statement from the agency confirming that a deputy was shot, that a deputy was found in a vehicle, or that any deputy was involved in the reported altercation.

Because the story was being shared widely on social media, Boca Post contacted PBSO directly and asked a simple question: is there any truth to the BocaNewsNow story about a deputy being shot multiple times?

A PBSO spokesperson responded with just two characters and two exclamation marks:

“NO !!”

That reply is the only on-the-record statement PBSO has provided to Boca Post regarding the alleged shooting. It directly undercuts the core claim that a deputy was shot multiple times, even as the rest of the situation remains murky.

BocaNewsNow’s coverage makes clear that many of the details it published were based on unnamed sources and carried heavy caveats. The article repeatedly used language like “apparently,” “it’s unclear,” and “we are awaiting an update,” while acknowledging that it wasn’t known whether the deceased person was a deputy, a suspect, or someone else. The article even notes that "fats

At this point, Boca Post has:

  • No official PBSO documentation confirming a deputy was shot.
  • No public agency statement describing a deputy-involved shooting on Water Course Way.
  • One direct, on-the-record response from PBSO saying there is “NO !!” truth to the deputy-shooting story when asked about it.

What remains is a death investigation that has not been formally detailed by PBSO, paired with an online narrative that moved faster than verified information.

Until PBSO releases an official summary of what happened on Water Course Way — including who died, how the incident unfolded, and whether any law enforcement officers were involved — Boca Post will treat the deputy-shooting claim as unconfirmed and directly disputed by the agency’s own spokesperson.

For now, the clearest fact in a swirl of rumor is the one-word answer PBSO gave when asked if a deputy was shot multiple times:

“NO !!”

Boca Post reports confirmed facts from official sources. We do not publish speculation, especially in sensitive law enforcement matters.
