BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A large Fire Rescue and PBSO response was seen during a gas leak on 18th Street on Thursday morning.

According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, at approximately 9:45 this morning, PBCFR Units were dispatched to Bluewater Circle and SW 18th St in southwestern Boca Raton for a Commercial gas leak. Construction crews accidentally pierced a 3-inch gas main. The gas could be heard and smelled leaking. A regional Hazardous Materials Response that included teams from Delray Beach Fire Rescue and PBCFR worked alongside FPU crews to dig out around the line so they could safely stop the leak. PBSO was able to close down SW 18th Street to traffic during this operation. At approximately 11:20, the leak was safely stopped. There was no interruption to gas service customers in the area.

There were no injuries reported.
