BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division will conduct a DUI Saturation Patrol on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 8 p.m. through 4 a.m.

Deputies will be out in force countywide during the overnight hours, conducting high-visibility enforcement with a focus on impaired driving. Officials said the effort will include traffic stops for all violations, not just suspected DUI offenses.

A DUI saturation patrol differs from a checkpoint in that deputies actively patrol targeted areas known for crashes, nightlife activity, or prior impaired driving arrests. The goal is to increase police presence and deter motorists from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

According to PBSO, deputies assigned to the operation will focus on identifying and removing impaired drivers from local roadways. Drivers stopped for traffic violations may be evaluated for signs of impairment, including alcohol or drug influence.

Law enforcement agencies typically schedule saturation patrols during weekends and late-night hours when crash risk tied to impaired driving is statistically higher. February weekends, particularly following major sporting events and seasonal gatherings, often see increased alcohol-related traffic incidents.

Motorists should expect an increased number of marked patrol vehicles throughout Palm Beach County during the enforcement window. Drivers are reminded to:vvvvvv

  • Use a designated driver
  • Utilize rideshare services or taxis
  • Avoid driving after consuming alcohol or impairing substances
  • Buckle seatbelts and obey posted traffic laws

Florida law sets a legal blood alcohol concentration limit of 0.08% for drivers over 21. Penalties for DUI convictions can include fines, license suspension, vehicle impoundment, mandatory classes, and potential jail time depending on prior history and severity.

The saturation patrol is part of ongoing traffic safety efforts aimed at reducing crashes and fatalities across the county.

No specific locations were announced for the enforcement operation.
