BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Palm Beach County civil lawsuit has been filed by Ronald David Krauss against The Boca Raton, LLC, alleging he was injured at the resort after sitting on a couch with an exposed wooden frame, according to the complaint.

The case, Ronald David Krauss v. The Boca Raton, LLC, was filed Feb. 16, 2026 in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida, under Case No. 502026CA001786XXXAMB. The filing shows it was accepted by the Palm Beach County Clerk of Court, Michael A. Caruso, at 4:18 p.m. that day.

Krauss, identified in the complaint as a Miami-Dade County resident, alleges The Boca Raton, LLC was doing business in Palm Beach County as the owner and operator of a resort and club at 501 East Camino Real, Boca Raton, Florida 33432.

The complaint was filed by Ramon, Rodriguez & Blanco-Herrera, LLP of Miami. No defense law firm is listed in the complaint.

According to the complaint, the alleged incident occurred on or about Aug. 2, 2025, when Krauss says he was a business invitee at The Boca Raton resort and club. The filing alleges the defendant owed Krauss and other visitors a duty to keep the premises in a reasonably safe condition.

Krauss claims the defendant breached that duty by creating or allowing a dangerous condition, described in the complaint as “a couch with an exposed wooden frame at the top of the couch.” The complaint alleges Krauss injured himself when he sat down and hit the back of his head on the wooden couch frame.

The complaint further alleges The Boca Raton, LLC knew or should have known about the condition and failed to warn visitors, or allowed the condition to exist long enough that a reasonable inspection would have disclosed it.

Krauss claims he suffered injuries and related losses including pain and suffering, alleged aggravation of a pre-existing condition, medical and maintenance expenses, and wage loss. The complaint also alleges his injuries and losses are permanent or continuing and that he will experience future losses.

The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $50,000, exclusive of interest and costs, and demands a jury trial, according to the complaint.
