Boundaries Have Been Finalized. Hundreds Of Children Affected By School District’s Decision.

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2022) — Boca Raton’s new elementary school, Blue Lake Elementary, is nearing completion and many students will be shuffled around for it’s opening in August.

As we have previously reported, hundreds of children will be displaced due to the boundary changes needed to fill the much-needed new school.

Blue Lake is being built to alleviate the overcrowding of nearby elementary schools including Calusa, JC Mitchell, Verde, and Addison Mizner.

After several board meetings, the controversial boundary changes have been finalized. The final result still displaces hundreds of children from the neighboring schools.

With a projected enrollment of 736 children in its first year of operation, Blue Lake Elementary boundaries have pulled kids from the neighboring schools. The second year will see 884 kids and then should stabilize at about 923 kids.

Two long-standing district policies allow current 4th graders to attend 5th grade at their current school and also allow for their K-3 siblings to finish their tenure at the current school.
