BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Gusty winds begin to taper off this evening in Boca Raton, but a clear, cold night follows with temperatures dropping to around 41.

If you are heading out this evening, the worst of the wind is nearly over. The cold is not.

Strong northwest winds moved through Boca Raton late Thursday afternoon behind a cold front, with periodic gusts reaching near 35 mph across the east coast metro. As of early evening, winds are expected to gradually ease, but breezy conditions will linger for several more hours.

Even as the wind settles down, colder air continues to move in. Skies are clearing tonight, setting the stage for a sharp overnight temperature drop. The National Weather Service calls for a low around 41 degrees in Boca, with northwest winds still gusting near 30 mph overnight.

That combination matters. Even by Florida winter standards, this will feel cold, especially late tonight and early Friday morning when wind chills dip into the mid 30s. Anyone out early Friday, whether commuting or walking the dog, will feel the chill immediately.

Friday brings sunshine but not much warmth at first. Morning wind chills remain low before temperatures recover into the upper 60s by the afternoon. Winds gradually turn northeast later Friday, keeping conditions dry but crisp.

Beach and marine conditions remain hazardous tonight. Strong northerly winds continue to produce rough surf and dangerous rip current conditions, and boating conditions remain poor through at least early Friday.
