BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Boca Raton man is facing felony charges after Boynton Beach Police say he exchanged sexually explicit messages with an undercover officer posing as a minor and then traveled to Boynton Beach for a planned meeting.

The defendant is David Scott Robertson, 62, who was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Jan. 24, 2026. The defendant, David Scott Robertson, listed an address in The Oaks, a gated country club community in West Boca Raton near Clint Moore Road and Lyons Road, according to court documents.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a Boynton Beach Police detective working undercover was contacted through a messaging application by a person later identified as Robertson. Investigators say the undercover detective was posing as a 14-year-old boy.

The affidavit states that on Jan. 23, Robertson sent sexually explicit and descriptive messages during the conversation with the undercover officer. Boca Post is not publishing the explicit language contained in the affidavit.

Police say the conversation continued and a meeting was arranged to take place at Jaycee Park, 2600 S. Federal Highway in Boynton Beach. Investigators say Robertson advised he arrived at the park, exited his vehicle, and walked into the park. The undercover officer directed him to walk toward the bathrooms where the undercover officer was waiting, the affidavit states. Investigators say Robertson changed direction, and he was taken into custody.

After his arrest, investigators say Robertson was advised of his rights and provided a sworn statement. The affidavit states Robertson confirmed the online contact and the explicit text messages. Investigators also say he confirmed he was going to meet someone he believed to be a 14-year-old at Jaycee Park, and that he intended to engage in sexual activity.

Robertson is charged with traveling to meet a minor (Florida Statute 847.0135(4)(a)), solicitation of a minor to engage in sexual conduct (Florida Statute 847.0135(3)(a)), and unlawful use of a two-way communications device (Florida Statute 934.215). Court records show a judge found probable cause at first appearance. Bond was set at $75,000 on each of the two 847.0135 charges and $5,000 on the communications-device charge, for a total of $155,000. The docket also reflects that a no-contact order was filed.

The case is filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. Court records list a 30-day return hearing set for Feb. 23, 2026, and an initial case conference set for March 19, 2026.

Boca Post also reviewed publicly available professional information identifying Robertson as a luxury real estate specialist associated with William Raveis Real Estate. That biographical information is not referenced in the probable cause affidavit or charging documents and is included only as background identification.
