BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton could see scattered showers and a few thunderstorms today before gusty northwest winds usher in much cooler air tonight, with marine hazards building into early week.

Today’s Weather - Sunday, January 18, 2026

Boca Raton starts Sunday with a weather split that will feel familiar by late afternoon, then completely different after dark.

For most neighborhoods along the I-95 corridor and east toward the Intracoastal and the beaches, today brings a mix of sun and passing rain. The National Weather Service forecast for 2 miles ESE of Boca Raton Airport calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4 p.m., followed by only a slight chance of showers later in the day. The high is expected to top out near 81 degrees, with southwest winds running 5 to 14 mph and gusts reaching about 22 mph. Rain chances today are listed at 40%.

This is not an all-day washout. The forecast is partly sunny, but it is the kind of day where a quick downpour can pop up, especially as the front moves through. If you are out on Glades Road, jogging around Mizner Park, or making errands out west near Lyons Road, you may get dry stretches, then hit a brief burst of rain that changes visibility fast.

The bigger story arrives tonight. Behind the front, temperatures drop hard for South Florida standards. Tonight’s forecast is partly cloudy with a low around 48 degrees. Winds flip to the northwest and pick up, with sustained speeds around 15 to 17 mph and gusts as high as 24 mph. With that breeze, it will feel colder than the thermometer suggests, especially late tonight and early Monday.

If you are heading out for dinner, walking the dog, or coming home late from weekend plans, plan for the “why did I not bring a jacket” moment. That will be most noticeable in open areas near the water and along wider roads where the wind has room to run.
