BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton will run mostly sunny and warm today with a high near 84, then a few showers and thunderstorms may pop up late in the day. Storm chances are still limited (around 30%), but any storm that forms could bring a quick burst of heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Tonight turns partly cloudy with a low near 70 and lingering early-evening storm chances. Plan outdoor time earlier today, and keep an eye on the sky after mid-afternoon
Today’s weather in Boca Raton is being shaped by a dip in the atmosphere overhead that’s lingering near Florida, which helps the air rise more easily later in the day. At the ground, a weak front is sitting to our north across northern and central Florida.
That setup keeps our winds generally from the south to southwest today, and it also helps moisture build back in. The sea breeze will still form this afternoon, but the National Weather Service notes the Gulf breeze is expected to be the stronger player.
That matters for Boca because it can keep the Atlantic sea breeze pinned closer to the east coast metro area, focusing storm development near the interior and also along the east coast where boundaries collide. The forecast calls for a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 4 p.m.
Even with only scattered coverage, a few storms could briefly turn strong. The ingredients described in the forecast discussion support the potential for gusty winds, heavy downpours, and even small hail in the strongest cells.
For Boca’s coastal waters (Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach), winds stay gentle today out of the south around 5–10 knots with seas 2 feet or less and light chop in the Intracoastal. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms develops late today and remains possible Monday, and any storm can create sudden higher winds and rougher seas.
Monday night into Tuesday, winds turn northeast and a building swell pushes Atlantic seas up to about 3–5 feet (occasionally higher), which can make for choppier boating and stronger surf conditions near the beach. Check the latest beach flags and be cautious if surf increases.
