BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton stays warm and sticky today with a high near 87 and a heat index around 100 this afternoon. Storms are more likely later in the day, with a 30% chance after about 2 p.m., then a much higher chance tonight as showers and thunderstorms become likely. Some storms could bring brief strong wind gusts and heavy rain that causes quick ponding on streets. Plan for changing conditions late afternoon into the evening, especially if you have outdoor activities or travel
South Florida is in a more unsettled setup for the next day or two, and Boca Raton is right in the zone for late-day storms. The National Weather Service notes a small disturbance aloft moving in from the west while a weak front slides down the peninsula and stalls near the Lake Okeechobee region.
In plain terms: the atmosphere has an extra “push” to help storms form, and the boundary nearby helps focus where storms can grow. For Boca Raton today, the morning and early afternoon should feature breaks of sun and building humidity.
Storms may take a bit to get going, but once they develop by mid to late afternoon, they can drift toward the east coast metro areas by early evening. That timing matters locally because it lines up with after-school activities and the evening commute.
A few storms could be on the stronger side, mainly for gusty winds. The bigger day-to-day impact is heavy rain.
For the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach coastal waters, winds stay relatively light today (south 5–10 knots) with seas generally 2 feet or less, but conditions can change quickly near thunderstorms. Tonight brings southeast winds near 10 knots with seas around 2 feet after midnight.
On Wednesday, seas build to 2–4 feet (occasionally near 5 feet) as a brief northerly swell mixes in, which can make the Atlantic choppier than earlier in the week. Boaters should watch for lightning, sudden gusty winds, and locally higher seas in and near storms, especially late afternoon and evening.
