BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton will run mostly sunny and breezy today, with a high near 78 and an east wind that can gust over 20 mph. A quick, passing shower is possible late this afternoon or early evening, with only a low chance of thunder. Tonight stays mild near 70 with a few showers or storms possible before midnight, then quieter late. Beach conditions remain hazardous: the rip current risk is high and the surf stays rough

South Florida’s weather pattern is settling into a familiar early-March setup: a steady onshore breeze, warm afternoons, and quick-hit showers that favor the coastline. The National Weather Service notes leftover moisture in the area while high pressure builds over the eastern U.S.

That combination keeps winds blowing in from the Atlantic (generally east to northeast) and helps push small, fast-moving showers toward the beaches. For Boca Raton, that means plenty of sun for much of the day, but don’t be surprised if a brief shower clips the city later this afternoon or early evening.

The point forecast keeps rain chances low (around 20% today), increasing a bit tonight (around 30%) before tapering again. Thunderstorms are not expected to be widespread because there isn’t a strong weather system forcing storms to grow, but the forecast discussion allows for an isolated rumble—especially near the warmer Gulf Stream waters offshore.

Temperatures stay seasonable and comfortable for early March: upper 70s to around 80 during the day, and near 70 at night. The bigger day-to-day impact is the wind.

Boaters and beachgoers should plan for a rougher-than-normal Atlantic this week. The marine forecast calls for east winds around 15 knots with gusts near 20 knots today, increasing to 15–20 knots at times through midweek.

Seas run 3–4 feet nearshore, occasionally 5 feet, and can build to 5–6 feet at times farther offshore, with choppy Intracoastal conditions in exposed areas. A few showers and an isolated thunderstorm are possible, and winds/seas can jump higher near any storm.

Along the coast, the persistent onshore flow supports dangerous surf and a high rip current risk.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

  • High Rip Current Risk through Wednesday evening for FLZ168-172-173.
  • Small Craft Should Exercise Caution (Atlantic waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach out 60 NM).

7 Day Outlook

  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny and breezy with an east wind 11–14 mph, gusts near 21 mph. High near 78. A brief late-day shower or storm is possible (20%). High rip current risk continues.
  • Tuesday night: Mild and partly cloudy, low around 70. A few showers and thunderstorms possible before midnight, then only a slight chance late. East wind stays up with occasional gusts (30%).
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny, breezy, and warm with a high near 78. A few quick showers are possible mainly after early afternoon (30%). Beach and boating conditions remain rough with persistent onshore flow.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 80. A chance of showers returns, with a thunderstorm possible late afternoon or evening (30%). East winds remain gusty, keeping surf and rip currents dangerous.
  • Friday: Partly sunny and breezy with a higher chance of passing showers (40%). High near 80, low near 72. Expect choppy water and rougher surf to continue, especially along the Atlantic beaches.
  • Saturday: Similar pattern—partly sunny, breezy, and warm with scattered showers possible (40%). High near 79, low near 71. Any rain should be brief, but outdoor plans should stay flexible.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny overall, but a chance of showers and a thunderstorm returns (30%). High near 80, low near 70. Winds ease only slightly, so beach hazards may linger even between showers.
