Today's Weather - Thursday, March 5, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton will run warm and breezy today with mostly sunny skies and a high near 79. East winds around 15 mph will occasionally gust above 20 mph, making it feel a bit blustery near the coast. A quick-moving shower is possible at times, and there’s a slight chance of a thunderstorm late this afternoon or early evening. The bigger headline remains the beach: a high rip current risk continues along Atlantic beaches

South Florida’s weather pattern is staying locked in place today and into Friday, and that’s why conditions in Boca Raton look familiar: warm temperatures, a steady ocean breeze, and only spotty rain. The National Weather Service says high pressure remains anchored over the western Atlantic.

In plain terms, that setup keeps winds blowing in from the east most of the time. That onshore flow helps keep temperatures mild overnight and warm during the day, while also pushing small, fast-moving showers in off the Atlantic.

For Boca Raton and the rest of the east coast metro, those showers tend to be “hit or miss” — many neighborhoods stay dry, but a brief shower can pass through quickly. Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 79 and only a low-end rain chance (around 10%), with a slight chance of a thunderstorm after 5 p.m.

Tonight stays mild near 72 with a small chance of showers early in the evening. Winds are a key impact.

For Boca Raton-area waters (Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach), easterly winds remain the main story. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 7 a.m.

this morning, with hazardous conditions early, then “caution” conditions lingering through the end of the week. Today, expect east winds 15 to 20 knots and seas 3 to 5 feet (occasionally up to 6 feet), with choppy intracoastal waters in exposed areas.

Tonight and Friday stay breezy with seas generally 3 to 4 feet (occasionally 5). Along the beach, the persistent onshore flow supports a high rip current risk through at least the upcoming weekend.

Current Advisories / Watches / Warnings

  • High Rip Current Risk through Friday evening for FLZ168-172-173.
  • Small Craft Advisory until 7 AM EST this morning for AMZ650-651-670-671.

7 Day Outlook

  • Thursday: Mostly sunny and warm near 79 with a steady east breeze and gusts over 20 mph. A quick shower is possible, with a slight chance of a late-day thunderstorm. High rip current risk continues.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny around 80 with an onshore east wind and a few fast-moving showers. A thunderstorm is possible after midday, but coverage stays limited. Beach and boating conditions remain choppy at times.
  • Saturday: Partly sunny near 80 with a 20% chance of a brief shower. East winds stay noticeable, keeping the coastline breezy. Expect continued elevated surf and rip current concerns along Atlantic beaches.
  • Sunday: Sunny and warm near 80 with a small afternoon chance of showers or a thunderstorm. Winds ease slightly compared to late week, but the onshore flow continues to favor quick coastal showers.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny near 80 with a 20% chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. Overnight stays mild near 70. Rainfall remains spotty and generally light for most neighborhoods.
  • Tuesday: Sunny and warm near 80 with a low-end chance of a passing shower. Winds trend lighter overall, but the ocean breeze still shows up near the coast. Nights remain comfortable in the low 70s.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny near 81 with a 20% chance of a brief shower. The broader pattern stays steady, keeping temperatures above normal and rain chances limited. Watch for continued beach hazards if onshore winds persist.
