BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2021) — Boca Raton beaches among the few in the county with “good” water quality.

Out of the 15 beaches listed in a press release issued by the Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County only 3 of them were listed as having ‘Good’ water quality. Boca Raton’s Spanish River and South Inlet Park beaches accounted for 2 of those 3. The only other beach in Palm Beach County with ‘Good’ water quality on the list is Jupiter Beach Park.

Six beaches on the list currently have a ‘Advisory’ status with the water quality all being listed as poor. The ones on the list with the poorest water quality are Carlin Park in Jupiter, Riviera Beach, Phil Foster in Riviera Beach, Palm Beach Municipal, Lake Worth-Kreusler, and Boynton Beach in Ocean Ridge.

When the Florida Health Department Palm Beach County Beaches issues a poor water quality advisory it they are warning that due to the increased Enterococci bacteria the water could pose a threat to your health if you come in contact with it. Usually the cause of the bacteria is wildlife, tidal changes, heavy rains, and of course heavy recreational usage.

It is always recommended to rinse of with fresh water after taking a dip. This is especially important if you are to visit a beach with a poor water quality rating.

At least for now the Boca Raton beaches are all listed as having a good water quality rating.
