THREATENS COPS: “I would gun you...down"

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — The police activity that shut down NE 4th Way and NE 23rd Way on Wednesday was driven by a domestic disturbance where an armed son allegedly pointed a gun at his father and made violent threats toward any officers who responded, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Boca Post .

The department warned neighbors to avoid the block while officers positioned themselves around the home. Responding units worked cautiously after being told the armed man might shoot at police if they approached the door.

Police later told Boca Post the area was cleared and there was no threat to the public, but did not release details about what prompted the heightened response.

We now know more details about the violent encounter.

Investigators wrote that 33-year-old Dylan Wallace Cirillo became enraged during an argument with his father inside the home. The father told police that Dylan threatened to kill him and then retrieved a handgun. Dylan allegedly racked the slide and pointed the gun at his father’s head. The father later said Dylan would "rack" the weapon, saying "you hear this dad? you hear this?", "this one's for you."

The father ran out of the house and contacted a Boca Raton Police Victim’s Advocate, telling them his son had just threatened him with a firearm.

Detectives noted in the affidavit that Dylan didn’t only threaten his father — he also made direct threats toward police, stating he would “shoot” or “kill” any officer who tried to come into the home. Those statements were relayed to responding units, who staged outside and approached with additional caution.

Detectives reviewed video footage of the father running out of the home, with Dylan appearing briefly in the doorway before going back inside, according to the affidavit. Cirillo later told officers that the gun was actually an airsoft gun and not a real firearm. Police note that they never located a firearm on Dylan.

Officers later contacted Dylan and took him into custody without incident.

Jail records show he was booked into the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and corruption by threat against a public servant or family — the latter charge tied directly to the threats made toward police.

His bond is listed at $0 for the aggravated assault count and $5,000 for the threat charge.

Boca Post is withholding the father’s name. Although Florida law does not require redaction in this case, Boca Post elects not to identify victims in domestic-related incidents.

This arrest is linked to Boca Post’s breaking alert Wednesday afternoon that warned residents to avoid NE 4th Way and NE 23rd Way while officers were on scene.

Dylan remains in custody as of Thursday. The case will be reviewed by the State Attorney’s Office.
