BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton wakes up to a quiet, mostly clear start, but don’t let the calm fool you if you’re thinking about the beach. A high rip current risk remains posted for Coastal Palm Beach County through this evening, and the National Weather Service is warning that dangerous rip currents can pull even strong swimmers away from shore.
Away from the surf line, today is about as classic as it gets for late February in Boca. The forecast for the Boca Raton Airport area calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 81. Winds start light and variable, then turn southeast at about 5 to 10 mph this afternoon. That means a mild onshore breeze later in the day, especially noticeable along the beaches and the Intracoastal, while western neighborhoods closer to Lyons Road and the inland corridor stay warm and mostly dry under sunshine.
The broader South Florida discussion from the National Weather Service points to very warm temperatures continuing today, with the warmest readings favored across interior areas. For Boca, the local forecast keeps it simple and dry for Saturday. No rain chance is listed in the point forecast for today. The bigger issue is visibility inland early, with the forecast discussion saying areas of fog are expected to develop across interior areas and Southwest Florida early this morning, and then again late tonight into early Sunday morning. Some of that fog could become dense in spots, especially near the Lake Okeechobee region, cutting visibility down sharply before lifting after sunrise.
Tonight stays mostly clear in Boca with a low around 65. Winds hold from the southeast at 6 to 8 mph, then swing west after midnight. If you are out late or heading north or west before sunrise, the fog mention matters, especially away from the immediate coast where winds can go light and skies stay clear.

A Rip Current Statement is in effect for Coastal Palm Beach County.
The National Weather Service says a high rip current risk remains in effect through this evening for Coastal Palm Beach County. The hazard is listed as dangerous rip currents, with the warning that rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
The recommended safety guidance is to swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, the guidance says to relax and float, not to swim against the current, and if able to swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

This forecast turns fast after the weekend, and the change is not subtle. Sunday starts warm, then pivots into showers and wind as a cold front crosses South Florida. Behind it, Boca drops into a much cooler, drier stretch early next week.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear with a low around 50. North winds lighten to 3 to 6 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny with a rebound beginning. High near 71. North winds 5 to 10 mph become southeast in the afternoon.
Wednesday night: Mostly clear with a low around 61.
Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 77.
Thursday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 66.
Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers with a high near 80.
Marine and beach note for Boca area waters: For the Atlantic waters off Boca, seas run 2 to 3 feet today with south winds 5 to 10 knots. Conditions deteriorate quickly late Sunday into early next week behind the front, with the marine forecast calling for northwest winds 25 to 30 knots Sunday night and seas building to 8 to 11 feet, occasionally higher. Rough conditions continue Monday with seas 9 to 12 feet and strong northwest winds, then slowly ease through midweek.
