BELLE GLADE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — A Palm Beach County woman was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle in Belle Glade, authorities said.

The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. on December 30 along Northwest First Street, just south of Northwest Avenue I, within city limits, according to a traffic division log entry and crash narrative.

Investigators identified the pedestrian as Gloria Perez, born April 1, 1961. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

The driver remained on scene and was not reported injured.

According to the report, the crash occurred in the northbound lane of Northwest First Street. The driver, identified as Guadalupe Mondragon, was traveling north approaching Northwest Avenue I when, for reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian walked into the path of the vehicle.

The report states Perez was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision and was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing. The front right corner of the vehicle struck her on the left side of her body.

After impact, Perez was thrown to the northeast and came to rest in the grassy area adjacent to the roadway, the report says.

The vehicle involved was a 2021 Honda Pilot registered in Florida. Investigators noted the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported for the driver, and alcohol or drug involvement was not indicated in the initial log.

The Honda was brought to a controlled final rest facing west on Northwest Avenue I.

Fire rescue crews responded and pronounced Perez dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.

The traffic homicide report lists the incident as a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash. As of the report’s release, no charges had been filed, and the case remained under investigation.

The crash occurred along a stretch of Northwest First Street that sees regular local traffic but limited pedestrian infrastructure. Investigators noted the pedestrian was not crossing at an intersection or designated crossing area.

No additional vehicles were involved.

Next-of-kin notification was pending at the time the report was completed. The report lists a child as next of kin but notes that notification had not yet been made.

The investigation was handled by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division. An investigator was assigned to the case, and the incident was logged as a fatal traffic crash.

Authorities did not release additional details Tuesday night, including whether speed was a factor or whether surveillance footage may exist from nearby properties.

The case remains open as investigators continue to document the circumstances surrounding the collision.
