Two South Florida Schools Face Lockdowns Days Apart, Threats Unfounded

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) — Two south Florida schools faced lockdowns in the last 3 days, following two different suspicious incidents to which officials had to respond to and investigate reports of a weapon on campus.

Luckily, both incidents turned out to be unfounded, however, both instances caused panic among parents who were ultimately notified that something may have been going on at the schools.

Monday, October 10th, 2022 –  J.P. Taravella High School, Coral Springs, Florida

Coral Springs Police Department provided an update on social media, claiming “UPDATE: We have determined there is no threat. The school is resuming normal operations.”

Of course, this welcomed response was preceded by the department saying “We are currently investigating a suspicious incident at J.P. Taravella High School. There is no active threat, all students and faculty are safe. We will provide an update once the all-clear is given.”

Friday, October 7th, 2022 – Silver Trail Middle School, Pembroke Pines, Florida

Pembroke Pines Police Department took to social media, “Police are on scene at Silver Trail Middle School investigating a report of a student who was possibly in possession of a weapon. Our School Resource Officer and road patrol, in coordination with school administration, were able to quickly secure the school and confirm that there were no weapons on campus. While we continue to investigate this incident, the students, school staff and campus remain safe & secure.”
