David Heath Of Pompano Beach Passes Away Months After High-Speed Motorcycle Crash

POMPANO BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that they are investigating a motorcycle accident that left one man dead five months later.

According to the on-scene investigation, at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Monday, May 9, David Heath was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle traveling westbound through the employee parking area behind the shopping plaza at 1100 South Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. As the motorcycle approached the western edge of the parking lot, the driver lost control. The motorcycle fell onto its right side and slid over the pavement. As the motorcycle was sliding, the driver was ejected.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and transported the motorcyclist to a local hospital in critical condition.

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at Vitas Hospice. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified and contacted BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit detectives.

According to investigators, video evidence secured on the scene revealed no other vehicles were involved. Based on their investigation detectives believe excessive speed may have been a factor in this crash.

BSO says that the investigation is ongoing.
