PALM BEACH, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — A 20-year-old man has been killed after crashing a Honda CR-V into a concrete pole on Palm Beach island early Saturday morning.

Numa Karly Jean-Bernard, 20, of Royal Palm Beach, was driving a Honda CR-V at a high rate of speed, according to Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, when he collided with a concrete pole near 710 S. County Road on Palm Beach island.

According to PBSO investigators, Jean-Bernard was heading southbound on S County Rd at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, Jean-Bernard veered off the roadway to the west and struck a concrete light pole. After striking the pole, Jean-Bernard then also struck a concrete wall and then a tree. Jean-Bernard was ejected from the vehicle. Jean-Bernard was transported to St. Mary’s Medical with critical injuries.

Jean-Bernard later died at the hospital.

Investigators tell Boca Post that Jean-Bernard was not wearing a seatbelt and identify that as the reason he was ejected from the vehicle. Boca Post has learned that Jean-Bernard received a ticket from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office only two days prior to the accident for not wearing a seatbelt.

Numa Karly Jean-Bernard was in the news several years ago after he trespassed from the Tiajuana Flats in Wellington during an encounter with a verbally abusive PBSO deputy.  The deputy, as you can see from the video below, inappropriately treated Jean-Bernard’s friend seen in the video. Both Jean-Bernard and his friend were arrested during that incident. The deputy was later disciplined by PBSO for violating policies.
